Please tell "everyone" that it is legal for every woman on the face of the earth to come to British Columbia and Ontario Canada and go topfree. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms applies to 6 billion people. Section 15 (the equality section of the Charter) states:

Everyone has the equal rights, protection, and benefit
before and under the law without discrimination based
on sex, race, color, religion, martial status, age,
mental or physical disability.

On June 8, 2000 I (Linda Meyer) changed the law in British Columbia. Maple Ridge (my home town) passed a bylaw that prevented females over the age of 8 from going topfree in the swimming pool and in parks. I broke the bylaw and was charged with violating the dress code. I went to the Supreme Court of British Columbia and got the sexist, unconstitutional bylaw struck down. Women from all over the world can now legally go topfree in British Columbia, Canada.

Gwen Jacob of Ontario changed the law in Ontario because she was charged with indecent exposure for going topfree in Ontario. Gwen went to the Ontario Court of Appeal and won. Women from all over the world can now legally go topfree in Ontario, Canada.

Evangeline Godron was convicted of mischief because she went topfree in Saskatchewan. Ms. Godron lost her appeal. However, she is appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada. Ms. Godron was sentenced to 30 days in prison because she went topfree!

Sincerely,

Linda Meyer

After visiting your site, I decided to do a little research of my own. I telephoned Tourism BC, which is the tourism authority in the Province of BC and asked them the question of topless on beaches and in swimming pools. They informed me that a female going topless in the Province of British Columbia would not be arrested or charged under any law. It is basically legal for a female to go topless on any beach and at any pool that is administered by any government agency. The only facility that may prohibit topless bathing is a privately owned facility such as a University Swimming Pool or pool or beach at a privately owned resort. So girls, now is the time to exercise our right to freedom! It will be somewhat slow in starting as most women are reluctant at first, but the feeling of freedom makes it worth it ...
