Every fine day during the summer, having a mobile home in Kilkee where topless bathing is frowned on, my friend Anne and I drove to Carrigaholt, a small village and beach about six miles west of Kilkee in Co.Clare. At the far end of the beach we sunbathed & swam topless for most of the day.

Having as it were set a trend we were joined by many of the younger women on the beach. There was no hassle but we were aware of occasional gawkers. Toplessness is also common at Fanore on the north west of County Clare--especially in the dunes behind the beach.
