My husband and I returned to Aruba and the Bucuti Beach Resort on Eagle/Manchebo Beach.  I knew from 3 years ago that the beach in front of this resort was the unofficial topfree area in Aruba.

When we went to the beach after checking in, I did not even wear my bikini top under my cover-up.  When we found some shade and a couple of chaises, I took off the cover-up and lay down topless to read my book.  I found that about half the women on the beach were topfree and nobody was paying any attention.  There were several senior European women, and some younger women around my age, all enjoying being topfree.

One interesting situation.  I noticed two young women were both sitting and walking around on the beach topfree, when both took their bra tops and put them on, and a few minutes later a young woman with a young man, fully dressed, came up to them and they all hung out for a while. This visiting couple had just walked past numerous topless women including me.  I could only guess that maybe the young man was related to one of the women, or maybe the woman was the sister of one of them, but they seemed to defer from being topless.  When this other couple left, they just took off their tops again and resumed their being topfree.

At the restaurant all the women covered up, but you could look out from the tables and see many women enjoying the beach topfree.  Bucuti does not generally have children, but they are no age restrictions per se.  I have never known of anyone who was asked to cover up because there were children around.

While I have also been to Baby Beach topfree, it is more common and generally accepted with problems at Eagle/Manchebo Beach.  The closest resorts are Bucuti and Manchebo Beach Hotel.

My husband and I went to Aruba in 9/02. We stayed at a large resort, but went to Eagle beach at the Bucuti for a day. There was another woman who went top free, so I tried it too. It felt very free and liberating. It seems that being top free is accepted on that beach since a lot of Europeans go there. No one said anything to me and I even went into the ocean without my top. I did get a big smile from the beach waiter when he took our drink orders. On our future vacations if the opportunity arises, I'll try it again. FYI - I put on 30 sun block and still got very red. If you try going top free for the first time, wear the highest sun block you can find.

My husband and I wanted a small hotel in the low rise area of Aruba. We choose Bucuti Beach Resort on Eagle or Manchebo Beach. It turned out this hotel was a favorite of Europeans and when we went to the beach from the first day there were always women topless. We later found out this beach is the unofficial topless area in Aruba. There were numerous European women and they took off their top and put it over their chaise as soon as they got to the beach. Many women went swimming topless but I preferred to cover up. Everybody put on their top on hotel grounds and at the bar, restaurant. One young woman wearing a very skimpy thong wanted to go swimming topless when the waves were high and rough. She then headed for the Bucuti pool but as we knew from our dunk in the pool earlier, there was an 8-9 year old boy in the pool and two teen girls from Sweden if we caught their language correctly. So of course she backed off when she got to the pool.

There were many young women and a few in their 50's 60's who were topless, including two German couples in their 60's where the women were topless all the time on the beach. A group of four U.S. college girls had two topless and two covered, each to her own.

While on Aruba, my wife and I went to Eagle beach. The stretch where we set our beach blanket was just around the bend immediately west of Manchebo beach. My wife took her top off right away. We had read trip reports informing us that topfree was no problem on Eagle beach as well as Manchebo. We did pass Palm Beach and saw a few topfree ladies there as well.

Eagle beach has beautiful light colored sand and incredible turquoise water. There were not many people perhaps 3 other couples about 60 feet away from us, and larger groups about 200 feet away, but there were various people taking walks down the beach.

My wife felt very comfortable even though none of the other women were topfree. Within minutes of her freeing her breasts and letting them feel the warmth of the sun, we could see the other women removing their swimsuit tops. All of us couples laid out in the sun there for several hours enjoying the beach. We would walk down to the water and swim and splash in the water. None of the women covered up at all when walking around. It was very natural and my wife expressed how liberating it felt.

Ladies, be the ones to start the trend on the beach even if no one else is topfree. It won't hurt anybody, and very soon others will join in as well.
