I went with my husband to Guadeloupe this past summer. I had no intention of showing anything more than bikini-covered breasts until I noticed that many, if not most, of the other women were sunbathing without their tops. Since I normally undo my top when on my stomach, it only took a momentary burst of confidence to turn over without first re-fastening my top. It didn't feel strange or odd at all. Probably the longest stare I got was from my husband who was pleasantly surprised with my new-found freedom. I got up enough courage to walk down to the water with my breasts free and unencumbered. There were some men who took a good long look at my breasts but there were enough other women without tops to stop any embarrassment. For the rest of the week I only wore my top for the walk to and from the hotel. The rest of the time the only thing covering my breasts was the crystal clear water or the beautiful sand of the beach. One great benefit of sunbathing topless is no tan lines. My breasts are nicely tanned and don't have that unnatural white appearance of apparel impaired breasts.

Recently, my wife and I spent a week at a resort in Guadeloupe. Toplessness was permitted on the beach in front of the hotel, as well as around and in the pool, and, during the day, at least, in the adjacent restaurant. I would estimate that about 50% of the women there were topfree at any given time. From what I could tell, this was about the same at any of the other resorts on the island.

This was what one would call a family resort, and many of the topfree women were there with their husbands and children. Nobody seemed to think that its was in any way bad for children to see their mother's naked breasts, I got the impression that, had I mentioned this, I would have been regarded as crazy, or, at least, obsessively puritanical.

As an example, on day on the beach we saw three generations of a family; the parents, their two daughters, and the mother of one of the adults. The parents were asking the grandmother to look after the girls while they went somewhere. This she did, relaxing topfree on a beach chair with the girls, likewise topfree, nearby. I have a feeling that those girls are going to grow up with quite healthy attitudes towards their bodies.
