The last year my husband and I have been two times to Isla Margarita, Venezuela.
Toplessness is widely practiced, mostly by European women. I went topless in
Playa del Acqua where topless is normal. I also went topless in the all inclusive
resort we stayed. Topless was normal everywhere: beach, pool, poolbars, etc.
Many women were topless over there because the clientele is mostly European.
Thongs were popular, also by men. The South American women wore thongs but always
with their top on. US women had the biggest bikinis: no thongs and always their
top on. They were the only ones feeling uncomfortable with it. The staff was
nice and reacted totally normal to topless women.
I felt perfectly comfortable - just like my husband - and went topless everyday.
I even played volley topless on the beach. I could easily walk with only a thong
from our room to the pool or beach - even without the company of my husband.
I also walked topless with my husband over the beach from our resort to the
village. I strongly advice American women who wants to enjoy topless sunbathing
to visit Isla Margarita. It's relaxed and cheap.
