While on one of the public beaches in Key West(can't remember which) I noticed a women topless while looking for a spot to lay down. I was somewhat shocked. As the day progressed the women I noticed earlier remained topless without complaint. I was there alone and was bored so I decided to join in. After several attempts to discreetly remove my top in which my nerve failed me, I took a deep breath and quickly yanked my top off. It felt weird at first and I almost put my top back on several seconds after I took it off, but I got used to it after a few minutes. Then, the other topless women packed up and left, making me the only one. I almost covered up again, but the feeling of the sea breeze against my breasts told me it was worth it. Eventually I got up the nerve to walk topless to the water and swim, and several others joined in. I was never bothered by the beach patrol, and the only instance of harassment was a college student who yelled "NICE BOOBS!" as he was walking by, but by that time I didn't care. It was a great experience.

Key West Beach on the Atlantic side. Topless for the entire afternoon, no complaints, and others were topfree as well.  Also, on the Gulf side, by the pier, topfree as well, no problems.

I got to enjoy being topless while I stayed at the Wyndham Beach Resort on Key West. They have a nice pool there and a pleasant beach. Not too many women went topless, but several were, so it was a very comfortable environment to be topfree.

One morning while I was eating breakfast, a group of young ladies walked down the beach from the pool to the ocean. They were in skimpy bottoms, and one was in a thong and none were wearing tops. It was a magical scene with the early morning sun glistening off the water and the ladies taking an early swim. The natural way they handled themselves was inspiring in its simplicity, both of the pure joy on their faces, but in how simple life is without having to worry about tops anymore! I determined right then that I would be topfree every chance I get.

My wife and I visited Higgs Beach in Key West, Florida in March, 2000 and May, 2001. On neither trip did we see any toplessness. On the last trip (May, 2001) we asked a local law enforcement officer manning a small security booth at Higgs if topless sunbathing was allowed, and he frowned at us and told us no.

Just got back from Key West where it appears the climate has changed somewhat. For the last 4 years, topfree seemed to be a scene of being reasonably discrete and no one hassled you. On Higgs and at the small beach at the end of Duval, there were almost always a few people topfree enough so that someone arriving at the beach would feel reasonably comfortable. This year, there were several articles in the local papers about the crackdown at Fantasy Fest (in Oct) and mentioning the KW ordinance against topfree and thongs. In 4 days, we saw only one topfree pair. We went twice to the Fort Jackson State Park Beach. There was no one topfree there and we'd been told at the hotel that topfree was against the law in FL. Obviously it's a case of keeping a low profile and being discrete and you'll be left alone unless someone complains. That said, there's always comfort in numbers, at least with my wife, and she certainly was not as comfortable this trip as she has been in the past.

I just spent the July 4th weekend in Key West. The weather was hot and beautiful all 4 days which is apparently not the case in the summer hurricane season. Anyhow we went to the all the beaches in Key West and didn't see one gal topless except my girlfriend. As nobody else was topless my girlfriend usually stayed on her front. But nobody came over and bothered us about being topfree.

The Pier House Resort in Key West has a very small stretch of their private beach that allows topless tanning. It is very small and the resort is expensive, but worth it most of the time.
