Our last stop was in Manteo, which is an island just inland from Kitty Hawk. We stayed at a huge motel that had an indoor pool. The pool was so big that the Red Cross uses it for swimming classes, and local folks can buy memberships for the pool and also the adjacent workout areas. They printed the pool rules on a sign and one rule was that only "swimwear" could be worn into the pool. Jason ask the attendant at the pool about if we could wearing just our thongs, and he told us as long as they were "swimwear" we could wear them. He also didn't have a problem with me not bothering to use a top.
