Since vacationing in previous years at Aruba (near Manchebo), Jamaica (Negril), and Dominican Republic (Punta Cana), my wife has become accustomed to topless sunbathing, and I admit to being pleased. Having recently relocated to the west, Mexico is an easier travel day now and we chose this year to stay at the Riu in Nuevo Vallarta, about 20 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta airport.

Toplessness was not commonplace but was evident a little each day. Sometimes only my wife but other days up to 3 others. Not clustered into one area - spread out over the large beach area. It was neither advertised nor discouraged. No one was bothered by staff or other visitors that I could see. All covered up to walk to beach bars or into water. None at the pool.

My husband and I just returned from Puerto Vallarta. Topfree was not seen there at all. We stayed at the Viva Vallarta resort. Most of the people staying there were either Mexican or American. It was a typical time of year for Mexican families to vacation, like spring break for Americans. There were many children around so I limited my toplessness to secluded places, as not to offend anyone.
