I'm an American male (36) who's been over here in Europe for a good few years now. I've been watching your pages and sure am pleased you've had a couple of postings about France recently where I've lived for five years. My girl and I were in Cannes for a couple of weeks a while back this summer. She goes topfree everywhere she sunbathes, being a French girl it comes natural - and she's never once been bothered by anyone and if she does prefer me to be there with her just in case. I reckon that's natural enough. She walks down the beach to the water, no problem and likes swimming without a top on too. The hit rate in Cannes this summer was about thirty percent I'd guess, but in Nice which is more laid-back, and also in Antibes, it was closer to fifty per hundred. We saw a couple of rich looking tourists one time who seemed awesomely wealthy but she was topfree and happy looking with it even though she must have been well into her fifties. Come on over here America!

I'm British and live in Paris. Tony and I (my husband) just got back home from a trip to Juan Les Pins on the French Riviera. I went topless as I have done for almost ten years and love the feel of the sun on my breasts. Topfree ladies are so acceptable in France and nobody has ever hassles me, ever!

Hi! My husband and I have been visiting the Riviera in France for years and I've always gone topless and never once been stared at or complained about. You get people sitting on the promenade wall ogling the girls sometimes but with no 'intent' or anything. And you get that anyway in the middle of London when everyone's fully dressed, don't you? Topless sunbathing is very much accepted in France and has been since 1975 when the trend started. I know. I was there - so don't worry girls! It's safe and accepted by everyone.

We've just got back from the French Riviera where topless sunbathing is very much in evidence of course in evidence. About forty percent I'd say in Nice, from well-heeled older women to girls in their twenties topless sunbathing is taken for granted in France. Even in Paris where I live you see bare breasts at all the swimming pools in summer. Absolutely no one is ever ever hassled which is at it should be? Even women and their teenage daughters can be seen together topless over here. Hope this helps and encourages you Americans considering a vacation in France.
