South Africa is a topfree zone. Topfree is accepted on nearly all beaches throughout the country, especially those of Cape Town and Durban. Thongs and g-strings are accepted everywhere. Many tourists visit Cape Town during the summer months and as much as 30-40% of women go topless on the main beaches. On other beaches discretion may be exercised and occasionally one may be asked to cover up. There are no laws against being topfree.
