12/00

A co-worker heard about a small waterfall in Virginia, so we decided to check it out. It is part of a small park called Scott's Run Stream. We went there during the summer of 2000, on and off on warm days starting in April, although it's open every day of the year. The park is on the Georgetown Pike just north of where the Capital Beltway intersects, on the Virginia shore of the Potomac River. Take the Georgetown Pike north about one mile to an old pink house at Swinks Mill Road. Turn right into the parking lot. Hike down about 15 minutes along the stream to the waterfall. Anybody coming along the path should be able to direct you. The waterfall is extremely pretty and cool on even the hottest day. Couples come there, and families but no rangers that we have seen. Everyone is relaxed and we always take off our tops without anyone hassling us. By the way, the directions may seem hard to follow but the park should be on a map of the northern Virginia area along with the roads mentioned. Try a visit, it's great!
