I recently went to Siesta Key which is a beautiful beach on the Gulf of Mexico in Florida.  I recently experienced topfreedom for the first time in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and loved it so I was looking forward to another opportunity.  It became easy to do in Mexico because there were lot's of women topfree on the beaches.  It's a good thing I had that experience first or I wouldn't have gone topfree on Siesta Key.   We (my husband and I) were located on the north part of the Siesta Key beach and there seemed more freedom there then the main area of the beach where I saw only a couple of women in thongs but none experiencing topfreedom.  I had no problems sunbathing without my top on. It took a lot more nerve to walk down to the water and go swiming without my top on here because I was the first one to do so. (I did not walk up and down the beach topless nor was I positioned near any lifeguard stations.)  However, once I did I felt so free and comfortable. I did! notice that once I took the plunge a couple of other gals near me soon followed suit in their sunbathing.  None of us were bothered at all.  Each time I go topfree I gain more confidence and realize I am actually helping others gain confidence as well to go topfree.  Maybe somehow I can help bring this freedom back home in Illinois.

About Siesta Key:  I agree with the last submission. I've seen tickets given here.

Sometimes only a verbal warning is given, that is, unless a female argues her case or hesitates to put her top on. I have not been ticketed though.

I would like to make a comment regarding a recent posting by Becky from Franklin, OH who wrote about her recent trip to Siesta Key, FL (Sarasota). She had a great time, along with some other ladies, enjoying the beach topfree. Personally, I think this is great and over the past three years that I have lived here, I've seen several women sunbathing topless on our local beaches. However, I think the readers of your website should be warned that it is not lawful to go topless on these beaches and that, regrettably, Becky and her companions could easily have received a citation by the sheriff's patrol.

On a brighter note, thongs are legal and I wear one almost every weekend. It is an extremely beautiful beach and I don't want to discourage anyone from coming for a visit, but I also don't want someone surprised to receive a ticket from a law officer.

Just got back from Siesta Key, Floida with my husband and the beach was GREAT! The main beach was busy with some T's but no topfree. We went to the north end of the beach and found two ladies topfree. We joined them with me going topfree. Before long three other girls was topfree also. We could walk to the water and swim topfree. We had some people walk by but nobody said a thing. We spent the week on that part of the beach! It was great!
