My boyfriend and I have been going to Smithville
Lake this summer. We have never come across anyone topless till this past weekend.
I had invited a friend of mine and she said that last year there were a lot
of other girls going topfree.
We went like to the end of the beach where their were no kids and found two
other girls topless and one older lady and I guess her hubby. Michelle, my friend,
took her top right off and eventually I did.
By the end of the day there were about 10 girls topless and or in thongs.
It was the best topfree experience I have ever had. Usually I am on the look-out
and not able to enjoy myself.

My husband and I have been back to Smithville Lake a few times so far this year. The crowd is very sparse during the week and much larger on the weekends. During the week, I have had no trouble going topless, and we've seen a couple other women topless. On the weekends, it is busier, and you may run into families that aren't too excited about toplessness.
I try to find a healthy balance between knowing my rights (only a thong is required at Smithville Lake), and being considerate. I always find a place away from families when possible, rather than simply sitting down right next to them and making a point to be topless right in their faces. I think having some etiquette and being polite goes a long way toward topfree acceptance.
There are days when I'm the only topless person there...keep in mind that you might have to be the first one to take off your top.

I went to Smithville Lake today. The crowd is really small this time of year. There were only a handful of people there and after a while I took off my top. Neither of the other girls there seemed to mind (but kept their tops on) and one guy was wearing a thong. At this point in the year, this is a great quiet place to lie out topless.

I saw the report here that you could go topless at Smithville Lake, so when my husband and I went this week, I thought I'd be prepared to give it a try. I've been topless in Europe and the Caribbean but this was a first for me in Missouri. When we got there, there were quite a few families with kids toward the right side of the beach so we moved down to the other end out of courtesy. When we got closer to the left end we could see that there were three women topless, two on their stomachs (who turned over eventually), and one with her husband who was lying on her back. We had a great time, and no one minded us going topless down to the water. We did get a few stares and whistles, which I guess you could get anywhere, but other than that it was great.

My friend and I have been visiting Smithville Lake on the north side of Kansas City for a few years, and we had never seen anyone topless until recently. At the beaches themselves, we have only seen women lie on their stomach and undo their straps, but away from the beach women lie out topless on the grass. We asked the park office about their rules, and they said that legally only the genitals had to be covered. Needless to say the next time we went back we took our thongs and found a spot away from the crowd to go topless. No one complained at all and a few other women who came after us took off their tops as well.
